Pankaj Saran set to be next Indian envoy

Pankaj Saran is set to become the new high commissioner of India to Bangladesh.

The foreign ministry in a media release on Thursday said that president Mohammad Zillur Rahman had signed the letter of consent for his appointment.

The Indian government will finalise the move to appoint Saran, a joint secretary Indian prime minister's office, after other official formalities are completed, the media release said.

Saran, an Indian Foreign Service officer, will succeed Rajeet Mitter, who left his office on Nov 1, 2011.
